Starting my Window Washing Business Starting your Window Washing Business. After working in the corporate world for 12 years, I decided to start a business that nobody could take away from me. Washing Windows seemed like a low cost business to start up and a service that most people with glass in their homes or business\' would need. You know what? I was right. I purchased a tutorial on how to clean windows, what solution to use, how to establish residential and commercial accounts. In as little as three months and an investment of less than $2000, I was on my way and after one month was already turning a profit. The key to this business is finding the work, doing a great job, establishing a reputation as hardworking, honest and keep your prices reasonable without selling yourself short. I\'m going into my third year of business with residential clientele as 95% of my revenue source. This is the first year that I\'ve advertised as my first year consisted of just hustling by passing out business cards and networking and second year making the mistake of hoping the phone would ring and referrals. Last year was rough with the weather (rained the whole month of May) and unbelievable Pollen season. I figured because I\'m now established and have an account base and consider my skills to be the best around that it would be good timing to run an advertisement. It has taken me two full years to establish the business as a bona-fide guaranteed source of income where without any effort, my phone just rings because my name is out there and it\'s great!! I pride myself on 100% customer satisfaction and the growth my business is experiencing is a direct reflection on this philosophy. I really do love washing windows but the thing I look forward to the most is the way the job looks when I\'m finished and the customer\'s reaction. This is going to be an exciting season for me and I\'m looking forward to it. For those of you thinking of going this route I definitely give it my blessing. The only downside is that the business is seasonal so unless you can make a significant amount of money in season, you do need something to do in the winter months (I\'m from New England if you haven\'t already figured that out yet). :)
